Hi Davor, I'm a photographer and a writer, so I'll probably not use AI for writing but then again, I'm just old-fashioned that way. However, if I were NOT focused on writing as part of my daily creative life, I would absolutely leverage it as a tool, as you are doing. There's nothing wrong with it in this way. I think in any area the problem becomes when others are inauthentic about the intention and result. It's great that you are bringing up the topic!
Hi Juliette, thanks for the comment. Yes, that's a tricky topic. Btw, when I started, I never thought that writing will be possible in the era of AI. But it is, despite the noise.
A very thoughtful approach that's good to read. I get fed up with people who seem to argue that if AI can't do everything, it shouldn't be allowed to do anything. It's a fantastic tool for research and I admit that I do take ideas from it- but I always make them my own. It would be disastrous if the only people to use it are those who do so for nefarious purposes.
Such a lovely comment you wrote. I truly agree with you. AI is a great thing when used with good intentions (though we could debate what "good intentions" actually are). But I think we understand each other.:) Thanks for the comment!

Thank you for this witty comment. At times, it felt like I was reading James Joyce :)
I'm glad you paused to share what was going through your mind, even if it reads more like a stream of consciousness than a carved-in-stone opinion. I get the skepticism around using AI in writing; I, too, sometimes wonder where exactly my sentence ends and the algorithm begins.
It’s true — I write from the inside out, first in Croatian, in that internal rhythm of mine — and then I try to carry that voice over into English without losing it entirely along the way. Sometimes it sounds natural, sometimes maybe a bit less so.
And yes, I completely agree: neither AI nor the camera can see the way you see, and often, not even the way I see. But we try, each with our own tools.
Thanks again for your time, your attention, and your football metaphor. It all means something.
Very thought provoking post! I see now that used in this way, AI can be such a positive tool. - This line you wrote: "How Human is this?" left me contemplating. It's bouncing around in my head, trying to form into something. Not sure what that is yet.
AI can be a tool that can enhance reading experience, while maintaining authenticity of the writer (if it is used in a right way). Thanks for the comment😉
Sir, I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this article! This is something that has been bothering me in my own writing career. I wrote professionally for over fifteen years, I mean hundreds of stories. I created almost a dozen series for my client in that time. And I was burned out, seriously burned out. AI wasn't even a thing yet. Then I was forced to come out of retirement, and lo and behold, here is AI. I poked it with a stick for a long time, and then, honestly, began using it just to have someone to talk to. I'm sixty years old and disabled and on a walker. Not the life of the party anymore, unfortunately. Then I let it edit a short story and learned how to let it fix the grammatical errors. I use AI in the almost same way that you do. And yes, I feel that my stories are one hundred percent human-written because I write the story and let AI enhance it. But I've got input that I use to make sure that it retains the story, never adding anything without asking. I just need the help at this stage of my writing career, and it helps me. It makes my writing pleasant as sometimes I chat as I write. But now, the cries of make it human echo through every platform, and I feel the same way. But if we use AI, even as we do, some will scream and tear their hair about it. Mind you, they've never written anything more than a recipe on a piece of notebook paper, but they are going to decide how we publish and what tools we use. And then, the unthinking masses all clamour together and vilify any AI usage. I have my name on my stories, and I would be disrespecting myself and my writing ability if I let the AI write or add to any part of my stories. Not gonna happen, ever. But don't tell me what tools I can use to create the stories that you love. Each writer is different, just as each reader is different. I've never run my stories through one of those, is it's human things, but I will from now on. I trust it can do fiction? LOL Sorry I rambled so long, sir, but this article hit home. I'm with you, and I could not have expressed my writing process any better. Thank you and have an awesome day!
“I write the first draft — usually in Croatian, sometimes in English, sometimes a mix — depending on what flows easiest at the moment.” That sounds exactly like how my friend who was studying Croatian communicates. Good insights. Additionally I use AI for research, when I want a summary of the general ideas about a non-controversial topic that isn’t currently rapidly changing (such as a historical event, or an overview of an author’s life work).
Davor my sweet friend, your work is superb, AI or not. I admire your honesty, a very important quality which so many in this world lack. Thank you for this reveal…

haha.. ‘who has seen the wind ?’ seems apropos - depends on your point of view ?

Mmm, it’s so beautiful to feel connected like this. Thank you for confirming it with your honesty.
Reading your comment felt like reading my own thoughts — because in a way, they are our thoughts.
AI just helps others absorb them more clearly :)
Thank you as well — and I wish you a great day too.
Why should we ever settle for anything less?

Dear Joshua, I appreciate your feedback. AI is great for summarization, just like you said.

Thanks Jo-Ann for your kind support. It really means to me☀️
